Virgin Gorda, The Baths & The RMS Rhone
End of August 2008

The normal East trade winds died with the passing of Hurricane Gustave, giving the local area a light Westerly flow for a few days.  What better time to go diving & play around the British Virgin Islands?

We made a stop at the famous wreck of the RMS Rhone.  The 310' Royal Mail Steamship sank in a hurricane in the mid 1800s.  The wreck is now part of an underwater park.  We also did a spin around The Indians near Normal Island.

Tropical Storm Hanna moved North of the area giving us a few days of squalls & storm bands. 40 knot wind gusts and several intense lightening storms made the Virgin Gorda Sound a challenging place to be.  We found the best protection near Leverick Bay.

The Baths National Park provided a full day of entertainment climbing big rocks, jumping off into the water and free diving through cracks & caves.
